About

Lorne Cohen is a Masters student in MIT’s Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering. His research investigates the viability of stainless steel and silicon carbide composites for use as fuel cladding. Lorne graduated from Queen’s University in 2021, studying Engineering Physics and Materials Science. He was awarded the Reuben Wells Leonard Penultimate Scholarship in 2020 for an outstanding cumulative GPA. Lorne’s most notable project was a trash receptacle designed to automatically sort types of waste. His passion for connecting with engineering community led him to work as a peer tutor for 3 years, helping to educate other students in the vast world of engineering.
