Dr. Koroush Shirvan is the John Clark Hardwick (1986) Career Development Professor of Nuclear Science and Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He received his PhD in nuclear engineering from MIT in 2012, where he also held the position of principal research scientist at the Center for Advanced Nuclear Energy Systems. Dr. Shirvan’s current research concentrates on developing and assessing advanced nuclear reactor technologies, focusing on the acceleration of nuclear technology innovation by combining multiphysics simulations and informed experimentation in the highly regulated nuclear energy industry. He has worked and collaborated on several projects with many organizations in the Nuclear sector, including national laboratories, government, universities, and private companies. He is also the co-director of the Reactor Technology Course for Utility Executives (RTC) held annually in the summer and co-sponsored by MIT and the Institute for Nuclear Power Operations.
