Loukas Carayannopoulos is a Master’s student modelling the irradiation of a molten salt loop by the MITR using the MCNP Monte Carlo code. His goal is to predict the tritium generation rate in the salt and the amount of radiation shielding necessary to limit the dose rate in the medical room to safe levels. His main interests are molten salt reactors and numerical methods applied to advanced reactor technologies. Loukas’s undergraduate degree also comes from the MIT NSE department.
