Julia Witham is a graduate student in the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering researching compact nuclear and plasma propulsion systems for space applications. Julia is investigating the design considerations of various propellant substances for a nuclear thermal propulsion system, as well as the viability of acquiring and preparing these substances during a deep-space mission. Before coming to MIT, Julia attended the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where she earned her bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering.
