Gyutae Park is a Master's degree candidate in the Nuclear Science and Engineering department interested in multiphysics modelling of nuclear reactors. His current research studies Nuclear Thermal Propulsion (NTP) concepts and designs with focus on the liquid-cored Centrifugal Nuclear Thermal Rocket design. Gyutae presented at the NETS 2021 conference on the addition of thorium into solid-cored NTP design to increase fuel-margin to meltdown and was awarded the best student paper for the Nuclear Fission Power and Propulsion track.
