Chumani Mokoena is a first year master’s student in the department of Nuclear Science and Engineering at MIT. He is interested in combatting the issues related to prohibitively high costs of pursing nuclear power. This has led him to focus on the techno-economic analysis of nuclear energy systems at a component level. In addition, he has increasingly become interested in understanding how electrical power markets and regulations work and how they affect the prospects for regional nuclear energy technology deployment in the medium to long term.
